March Summary

As so often happens, the plans I make at the beginning of the month have turned and changed through the course of the weeks. At the beginning of March, I set out to read poetry. Now, at the end, I've not read any. Oops.

However, I did read a novel, which is something I haven't done in some time. Also, by way of reading something other than my norm - a few days ago I pulled my violin out of my folks' basement, tuned it up, and saw what I could remember. I also picked up some sheet music from the library. Thus, while my plan was to read poetry, I've ended up reading music. Not what I had planned, but it's still reading something other than what I've been. I call it a win.

So you're now officially a Rogue Pirate. Congratulations. And the nice thing is you can always go back if you want. Win-win.

Speaking of reading sheet music, I also recently picked up my old instrument and delved through my old sheet music. Strange how it was like reading an old, familiar book. All of my notations were still there from where I had a problem with this run or that note (and since my mouth is out of shape I still tended to have problems in the same spot...kind of disheartening after I'd managed to get it down when I was twelve). I think reading music counts. I don't know about you but I make up stories to help me figure out how I want the music to sound.

And I'm with you on the not officially rejoining the Sunday group. I'll still go because I love the people, but I'm not paying and I'm not going to feel an overwhelming obligation to do the critiques...but I'm gonna hang around and do my part in the round story, mentoring, etc.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out how much I remembered - a couple of the songs I used to know by heart came right back to me, and this is after having not touched my violin in about five years.

Very cool
